Question Answer
If you could travel back in time to any period, and meet any person who is historically significant, who would you want to meet and why?

If I could, I would like to meet Sandro Botticelli, because he was a great painter. I want to ask him about painting techniques. Parts of me are science, art, and romance.

Out of all the problems that we are facing in our world today, what do you consider is our biggest problem and how do you think we can solve this problem?

Poverty is our biggest problem. Part of it is the inequality. The rich are very powerful. Capitalism is more powerful than monarchy – it is harder for people to organize revolutions now than during monarchy. It will take a long time to solve this problem. We can solve this problem if we can teach people to have love and compassion.

Do you think it is possible that you and I were put here on this earth for some kind of purpose? If so, what do you think that was? If not, why do you think so?

Yes, I think we were put here on this Earth. As for our purpose, I believe we should live well, prosper, and explore the world—even to outer space, such as Mars. We can even colonize it, provided there is water and conditions allow. Humans like to explore. Artemis II just traveled to the moon and back.

We live in a world that tends to believe, now more than ever, that all religions are equal and no one religion is better than another. In your opinion does it matter what someone believes? If not, why not, if so, why so?

I don’t think it matters what someone believes as long as they do not harm anyone like what Muslim extremists. Religions generally are good. Many religious organizations help the poor, etc.

All religions have different beliefs about the afterlife but many seem to indicate that we go to a better place, if we do the right things in this life. What do you personally believe about the afterlife and what do you think we need to do in this life in order to get to this better place in the next life?

I am a fan of the afterlife, but if there is not one, I am okay with it. Doing the right thing in this life means living honestly, being a good person, and doing your best based on your conscience. Examine your conscience at night to see if you have done your best.

If you do not believe there is life after this life is over, where do you think we came from?

I think we evolved from simple organic materials millions of years ago. The rapid adaptation of viruses like COVID-19 is evidence of evolution in action. I am 99% sure about the theory of evolution, but not 100%. Science and technology are always evolving—we didn’t have electricity, then we discovered it, and now we have the internet, and so on.

If you do not believe there is life after this life is over, why is it difficult for us to avoid believing in non-material things like truth, love, beauty, goodness, etc…?

They are from our brain. I majored in Neurology at UCSD, so I was taught so, and I think so.

If I could, I would like to meet Quang Trung Nguyen Hue, the Emperor of Viet Nam who defeated the invading forces of Qing dynasty in 1789, saving Vietnam’s independence from China. Nguyen Hue had an independent policy against Chinese influence – He ordered Vietnamese to officially use the Vietnamese writing script called Chữ Nôm, instead of Chinese writing script. Nguyen Hue also defeated the Thai invading army in the south of Vietnam. He was a hero of Vietnam.

Out of all the problems that we are facing in our world today, what do you consider is our biggest problem and how do you think we can solve this problem?

Wars are our biggest problem. We need a powerful organization that is much, much more powerful than the United Nations to control powerful nations, or we need to reform the United Nations, because currently powerful nations have too much power – big fish are eating small fish.

Do you think it is possible that you and I were put here on this earth for some kind of purpose? If so, what do you think that was? If not, why do you think so?

Yes, I think we were put here on this Earth for the purpose of getting married, having children, and continuing the human race.

We live in a world that tends to believe, now more than ever, that all religions are equal and no one religion is better than another. In your opinion does it matter what someone believes? If not, why not, if so, why so?

It doesn’t matter what someone believes, because we only have this life.

What do you personally believe about the afterlife and what do you think we need to do in this life in order to get to this better place in the next life?

I don’t think there is an afterlife. Consciousness ends when we die. Only this life counts – doing good deeds for good fame.

If you do not believe there is life after this life is over, where do you think we came from?

We evolved from simple cells. Cells evolved from organic compounds. Organic compounds evolved from non-organic compounds.

We live in a world that tends to believe, now more than ever, that all religions are equal and no one religion is better than another. In your opinion does it matter what someone believes? If not, why not, if so, why so?

I don’t think all religions are equal. However, I don’t think it matters what someone believes, as long as they don’t hurt anyone and they sincerely believe.

I don’t know anything about the afterlife. Maybe I have been reincarnated many times already. I don’t know. But if there is an afterlife, I believe doing good will get you to a better place in the next life.
